Catherine’s mother Jenny is creating The Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary. The state of Connecticut donated a piece of property in the heart of Newtown. A local architectural firm drew up the plans for the facility pro bono. Volunteers refurbished the dilapidated barn, and “there’s a butterfly bench Catherine would have loved donated by a Girl Scout, a pavilion from an anonymous donor, and other amenities.” Jenny said, “I go up to the sanctuary just to be, and I know that breeze is her, that quaintness, there’s always some sort of creature. It’s a blessing. The sanctuary is a blessing. We truly believe it’s how God is making something good out of this. It’s his way of saying there’s purpose in this. You’re not done yet. Here ya go.” [4] CVY Foundation
An elementary school in Ansonia, Connecticut is the site of the playground dedicated to Catherine Violet Hubbard. Catherine’s mother and her older brother Freddy were at the opening. Her mother said, “As you play on your new playground, remember to be kind. Remember if there is something in your heart that you want to say it because you don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring.” [5]
