Jack Armistead Pinto
May 6, 2006 – December 14, 2012
“He was born in Danbury, Connecticut. Jack was an avid participant in a wide variety of activities including flag football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, and snow skiing. Jack was an incredibly loving and vivacious young boy, appreciated by all who knew him for his lively and giving spirit and steely determination. In life and in death, Jack will forever be remembered for the immeasurable joy he brought to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, a joy whose wide reach belied his six short years. The Honan Funeral Home took care of the arrangements.” [1]
Jack Pinto loved the New York Giants, especially Victor Cruz who honored Jack on Sunday by writing on his cleats, “Jack Pinto, My Hero” and “R.I.P. Jack Pinto.” [2]

Family, friends and townspeople said goodbye to Jack Pinto who was in an open casket. The service was a “message of comfort and protection, particularly for other children.” [3]
Jack’s small, white casket was bordered by dozens of red, white and yellow flowers and poster-size photos of him. Nearby a poster board held a collage of photos with the message, “We Love You Jack.” He was buried in a white No. 80 New York Giants jersey. “The sadness inside was palpable as parents consoled children whose small bodies shook with tears. Mourners in three rooms strained to hear as several people got up to tell stories about the boy.” [4]
At the Honan Funeral Home, a mourner carries flowers in Pinto’s honor. Jack Pinto loved the Giants receiver Victor Cruz, who wore Jack’s name on his shoes and gloves at Sunday’s game and offered his jersey to the family.

If this is where angels play, then Jack, who loved sports, will be in attendance. Bless his family with peace and the knowledge that people do care and pray for the security and safety of the victim families every day.
